With the rise of entrepreneurs, it can often feel like everywhere we turn, someone is trying to sell us something. While there is no shame in selling, it can be difficult. Whether you’re a partner, business owner, influencer, or affiliate marketer there is an effective way to sell that won’t leave you feeling slimy. 

You know the slimy salesperson I’m talking about, right? This person is trying so hard to make the sale, and the more he talks & harder he pushes, the more you want to run in the other direction? This is because this kind of behavior is a signal to you that this person doesn’t actually believe in their product. 

Instead of fighting for clients or pressuring buyers, let’s talk about how to attract real people into your brick and mortar or online business. Here are two things you can do today, to completely transform your business and attract more clients. 

Sell Yourself (not your product or service)

We’ve all been at those networking events where every interaction seems to be forced and fake. People immediately start uptalking their work, flashing their business cards, and trying to sell you on their product. Just like the slimy sales guy, what do you immediately want to do? RUN.

Instead of trying to sell your product, focus on selling yourself. Be real, honest and genuine. You could spend an hour talking to a potential client about your shared love of ethnic food and The Black Keys, and at the end of the conversation they’ll want to develop a relationship with you because they like you. Odd’s are there are a million other people doing the exact same thing you do, so what’s different about your business? You. 

The point here isn’t to win people over for the sake of making a profit. Be authentic and make genuine connections, because that’s the kind of person you want to be. That being said, these connections will affect the quality of your life and your business. Your authenticity will be a representation of who you are and the work you do.

Give Freely

At some we were made to believe that we can’t give our knowledge or time away for free, because then people won’t have a need to buy from us. This is so, so wrong. 

The more you give to the people around you, with zero expectations, the better you’ll feel and the faster your business will grow. To clarify, we’re not giving to others in hopes they’ll buy from us. We’re giving to others because we believe our time, product, advice, etc. can help this person grow.

You’ve probably heard the saying, “What you give comes back to you ten-fold”? Well this is no exception. When you give for the sake of giving and you believe in your business, your business will naturally reap the rewards. It might not be in the way you expect, but this generosity will always come back to you. 

By redirecting your attention on to cultivating real relationships and giving freely to the people around you, you will effortlessly attract the clients and customers you want to serve. Give these tips a try in 2020 and watch your business transform.
